Cardiac Transplant Coordinators

The pediatric cardiac transplant coordinators are heavily involved in the assessment of children for cardiac transplant, the coordination of the transplant and the post-transplant follow-up clinics and telephone related management. Together with the transplant Social Worker they also help families and children handle the psychosocial and practical aspects of transplantation

Clinical experience

Emily has been a staff nurse and intensive care nurse and worked in the pediatric cardiac catheterization laboratory. For the past 8 years she has been the senior pediatric cardiac transplant coordinator and has accumulated experience in the telephone management of pediatric problems related to children with heart disease and cardiac transplantation.

Research experience

Emily has participated in clinical research projects within the Division of Pediatric Cardiology and is co-author on 8 papers and 5 abstracts and has also given invited lectures on cardiac transplantation in children.

Marian has had extensive experience in many aspects of pediatric nursing, including Newborn Intensive Care experience and Emergency room nursing. She has had 11 years of experience in pediatric cardiology as a nurse in the cardiac catheterization laboratory and as a cardiac transplant coordinator. She has also been involved in cardiology telephone management for this time.
